Requirements to obtain State Contractors License

- Form a legal entity: Register an LLC or Inc. with the Tennessee Secretary of State.
- Identify a Qualifying Party for required exams per classification.
- Exams must be passed prior to submitting your application.
- Reviewed or Audited Financial Statements are required in the name of the entity seeking licensing.
- The company must request a Monetary Limit to licensing.
- Experience requirements must be satisfied and vary per classification.
- The Qualifying Party must submit a copy of his or her government-issued identification and social security number.
- Proof of insurance required.
- Tennessee has reciprocity agreements with multiple states specific to the classification(s) requested.
