Requirements to obtain State Contractors License

Washington State Contractors:

  • Form a legal entity: Register an LLC or Inc. with the Washington Secretary of State.
  • Identify a Qualifying Party for required exams per classification.
  • License application must be submitted first to gain eligibility to exam, if required.
  • The Qualifying Party must submit a copy of his or her government-issued identification and social security number.
  • Proof of insurance required.
  • Bonds may be required per classification.
  • Washington has reciprocity agreements with multiple states specific to the classification(s) requested.
