Reciprocity for Utah State Contractors.

General Contractors: Reciprocity is allowed for 25 states, American Samoa, Guam, and the US Virgin Island. These also accept NASCLA GC.

Electrical Contractors: Reciprocity is allowed with all 50 states except for Kansas, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York and Puerto Rico. Also accepts NASCLA EC.

Requirements to obtain State Contractors License

Regulated by the Utah Division of Professional Licensing:

  • Form a legal entity: Register an LLC or Inc. with the Utah Secretary of State.
  • Identify a Qualifying Party for required exams per classification.
  • Exams must be passed prior to submitting your application.
  • Approved Pre-licensing Education may be required from a board-approved provider.
  • Experience requirements must be satisfied and vary per classification.
  • The Qualifying Party must submit a copy of his or her government-issued identification and social security number.
  • State-specific tax requirements must be met prior to application.
  • Proof of insurance required.
  • Bonds may be required per classification.
  • Utah has reciprocity agreements with multiple states specific to the classification(s) requested.
